history

Elyot Harper was born in the city of Ul'dah to Agnes and Darwin Harper. Due to the result of them being musicians long hailing from Ala Mhigo, Elyot grew up learning how to play the piano and harp, while also learning the art of song since the moment he was able to speak. Throughout his childhood, he accompanied his parents through most of Eorzea on trips to perform their music, however, being too young, he was only allowed to observe and make friends with the kids who were also dragged to the events.Due to of his parents being well-known and wealthy, they had the chance to maintain their status and find comfort in Ul'dah and lived there as nobles. Because of that, Elyot grew up in a privileged household and a privileged mindset. On his 14th nameday, He began to attend musical studies in the city that his parents put him in to further advance his skills in the classical musical arts. Although for a few months everything was going smoothly for him, Elyot, upon meeting the less privileged youth in the streets of Ul'dah, slowly began to resent his status and wealth and began to associate himself with their struggles and their ambitions rather than his parents'. With this realization, he began to skip all his musical studies altogether and spent his time with his newfound friends instead.Because of his impressionable attitude at the ages 15 and 16, the words of passerby adventurers had intrigued him enough to make him want to become an adventurer himself. Despite his parent demanding him to not pursue such a dream, Elyot began to make preparations to move along with his goal. However as soon as he had begun to save up enough gil, the 7th Umbral Calamity had put those plans to an abrupt end. Losing his parents, in the calamity, Elyot survived in the city for a few years with the little wealth they left him. It was not until his 22nd nameday that he would find himself leaving the city of Ul'dah, in search of a new purpose.Now, he is a merchant working on the behalf of the Goblins of Idyllshire. Forming a bond with the goblins, he finds himself living happily among them in the Dravanian Hinterlands. While he works during the day in the rebuilt city, during the evenings he performs music for adventurers and citizens of Idyllshire alike.It wasn't until his life in idyllshire that others soon discovered that he was suffering from a memory loss disorder, where he could not remember anything within the last 5 years of where he is in in the time currently. though it was a bit unnerving to him at first, Elyot decided to not do anything about it and continued to live his life in Idyllshire.

Elyot Harper is an Italian/Mexican American born in Hoboken, New Jersey. His parents, Agnes and Darwin, are both renowned Broadway performers and have made their name on broadway. His father was never in the picture when he was born and onwards. Coming from a wealthy family on his mothers side, Elyot was taught the ways of proper etiquette, mannerisms, and privilege. As soon as he was of age, his mother immediately placed him in lessons on playing the Piano, Violin, Harp, and separate lessons on singing just like her. Because of his mom, Elyot had the privilege to go to Broadway shows constantly as he could and in a lot of ways it shaped him.In adolescence, Elyot’s personality shifted as he began to gain a sense of who he wanted to be and who his parents wanted him to be and it spiraled into a rebellious phase where he began to lie to his parents about his whereabouts after school. During his attendance in a private high school, he met another boy who he fell for. As soon as they graduated, he convinced Elyot to run away from his parents and live a life on the road. During this time, they lived off of shoplifting and sleeping in the car. Unfortunately for Elyot, the relationship turned toxic and it ended with Elyot being left at the side of the road to hitchhike himself back to New Jersey to regain his mothers favor.Upon his return, his mother demanded he attend an art college to make it up to them and he reluctantly agreed. In college, Elyot took music classes and it is there where he discovered his love for playing the Electric Guitar and Bass. Even through this, though, Elyot’s rebellious behavior led him to constantly be at parties, bars and hookups. It’s through frequent trips to the bar that led him to meet his future bandmates. As his love for music grew, so did his taste for Ska-Punk and Pop-Punk music, and it was not too late after that he eventually created his band “Hey That’s My Bike!”.His mother upon finding out about his band and his style of music, became upset and tried to get him to quit his ambitions of making his own living off of his new passion. This only upset Elyot more and decided to cut his mother off his life once and for all– and deciding to live off of his friends who would let him crash on their couches. Living through the small payments he would make from performing at local bars with his band, he was able to get by easily.

  • Elyot is a sundered soul, his unsundered self was named Orpheus, a lover of all typesmusic and a free spirit. Known for successfully creating different types of music genres.

  • Every shard of Orpheus looks identical. Even though they all look the same, they have their own music genre and personality and style that separates them.

  • His accent is a mix of Ul'dahn and Limsan due to his time spent in the markets of Ul'dah.

  • He has a pet Poroggo named "The Wizard" who followed him due to the fact that he fed him once and promised to teach him all he knows.

  • He's incredibly good at persuading people into buying things, a talent he gained from mimicking merchants in Ul'dah early on.

  • He owns an electric bass gifted to him by the goblins. It's crafted from parts of Alexander and powered by Ironworks Technology.

  • Elyot is unable to share his feelings easily and mostly is able to express them through song.

  • His combat style is very similar to bard. He uses his guitar and uses sound-based attacks. He also uses a little bit of lightning in his abilities thanks to his pet poroggo.

  • His band in FFXIV is composed of him and his goblin friends and they host concerts in the Idyllshire bar every other night.

  • He is VERY talkative if you just let him ramble. He rambles so much that he sometimes just loses track of what he's saying.
